PERFORMED BY MICHAEL GRIFFITHS

DEBUT LONDON RUN – ST JAMES THEATRE
THURSDAY 19TH – SUNDAY 22ND DECEMBER

After a hugely successful limited, but critically acclaimed sell out, Edinburgh Festival run this August, Australian Jersey Boys star, and Madonna fanatic, Michael Griffiths brings his one man cabaret show to London’s St James Theatre Studio for 4 nights only from Thursday 19th December – Sunday 22nd December.

“It is an intimate affair underscored by a wickedly camp bitchiness that delights”
EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS *****

‘In Vogue – Songs By Madonna’ sees Griffiths embody Madge at the piano and use the Queen of Pop’s back catalogue to take the audience on a witty and very funny journey through her life. Written and directed by Dean Bryant (Prodigal, Liza on an E, Britney Spears: The Cabaret), the show features 35 song references and 12 Madonna songs. Previously he has had sell-out seasons in New York, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

“he kept the audience engaged through a flurry of laughter, awe and all round enjoyment ” BROADWAY BABY ****

Griffiths said: “Singing and dancing to ‘Holiday’ is one of my earliest memories. Madonna has been such a constant in my life. No one really talks about Madonna as a songwriter who wrote incredible songs: Vogue, Like a Prayer, Open Your Heart and Express Yourself. I want my audience to enjoy these iconic tracks as well as exploring the real stories and surprising truths behind them.”

“This is a borderline religious experience” TIME OUT ****

Michael graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor in Music Theatre in 1999 and has a Diploma in Music Composition. He is a singer, pianist, composer and musical arranger. Michael is currently performing as Bob Crewe in Jersey Boys. Before this he toured Australia and New Zealand in Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Michael performed in the Australian and Japanese tour of We Will Rock You amongst other shows.

INTERNATIONAL CRITICS:

“Griffiths will have you believing that he is the highly materialistic Material Girl…it’s wry, its camp, and it’s exceedingly funny. It also features some exquisite piano arrangements…all enhanced by JERSEY BOYS star Griffiths’ mellifluous vocals”
ADELAIDE ADVERTISER

“Charmingly self-assured and conversational, Griffiths held the audience in the palm of his hand from his first piano-powered Madge arrangement…The best tributes are ones that are unafraid to add a wink and a smile to their tone, and In Vogue certainly succeeds”
AUSSIETHEATRE

“Griffiths has us reclining in our seats and listening to the Queen of Pop’s songs like we’ve never heard them before… Griffiths has beautifully crafted the art of performing the pop song with only a piano and a solid voice…He’s funny and charming and holds the audience with finesse and ease” STAGE WHISPERS

“I saw one man bring an entire world to life with just a piano, a stool and his genius”
RICK ELICE, CO WRITER JERSEY BOYS
