Those dreaming of a white Christmas this year should head to East Village E20, which will be transformed into an Alpine Adventureland, complete with a high-octane Snow Slide, in the run up to the festive season.

Careering down the hill in Victory Park, just one of East Village’s many green spaces, the East Village Snow Slide will be 25 metres long, created with 20 tonnes of real snow and shaped for optimal speed and enjoyment. Visitors are invited to jump on a rubber ring and experience the age-old tradition of sledding for themselves – regardless of the weather.

Daredevils simply need to turn up, grab a rubber ring and then speed down the snowy hill where the 20ft slide will be FREE to ride.

Those in the spirit of festive giving can also make a voluntary donation to the East End Community Foundation (EECF) Newham Giving fund, an initiative which supports local grassroots organisations that support families with activities for children during the school holidays.

The fun doesn’t need to stop as you can warm up amongst twinkling lights and wintery trees with a luxurious hot chocolate and festive snack from one of the tempting food stalls. Or, if you want to get out of the cold, you can head into one of East Village’s cosy cafes, such as Hand Café or Signorelli, who will be selling special chocolate brownie Christmas trees over the festive season.

The Christmas fun will also continue across a range of retailers, including independent grocer Ted’s Veg, who will be selling real Christmas trees.

The East Village Snow Slide will be open on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th December from 12:00 – 20:00 or while the snow lasts.
