Girl band MKS (Mutya/Keisha/Siobhan) performing at #CreateChristmas Exhibition launch

On Thursday 21st November girl band ‘Mutya Keisha Siobhan’, made up of the founding Sugababes members, will launch a festive photography exhibition projected onto the side of a 10 storey building to celebrate and showcase how Londoners #CreateChristmas. To kick off proceedings the critically acclaimed girl band will officially switch-on Victoria’s lights, illuminating Victoria Street from the station to Buckingham Gate. As Victoria lights up MKS’ festive photo will be projected onto the façade of Victoria’s Cardinal Place, equivalent to the height of seven double decker buses, to mark the start of the exhibition. There will then be a festive performance from the IDMC London Gospel Choir – a dynamic, vibrant and inspirational MOBO awards nominated gospel choir, who have performed with a host of famous names including Heather Small, Jamelia, and Jason Mraz.

MKS, who reformed as a group in 2012, will perform their debut single ‘Flatline’ alongside songs from their new album, plus an old favourite. Cited by critics as “a triumphant comeback of one of Britain’s finest pop groups” MKS’ performance promises to bring sensational vocals and festivity to Victoria.

#CreateChristmas photo competition and exhibition

This November will see the arrival of a festive photography exhibition projected onto the side of a 10 storey building to celebrate and showcase how Londoners ‘Create Christmas’. Launching on Thursday 21st November, the large-scale projections will take over a façade of Victoria’s Cardinal Place, equivalent to the height of seven double decker buses, as part of a free three-night entertainment showcase.

Time Out London’s Chief Photographer, Rob Grieg will curate the exhibition selecting of photos, submitted by the public in the #CreateChristmas photo competition, that best show a sense of the beauty and magic of the Capital at Christmas.

For a chance to be featured in the exhibition, people are asked to submit a photo via Facebook.com/CreateVictoria with a caption of how it captures the essence of creating Christmas in London. Whether it is a favourite landmark, a must-do seasonal shop or iconic festive fare, #CreateChristmas wants to know what Christmas in London really means to people**.

Each of the best selected photographs will be projected for 20 seconds from 5.30–7.30pm daily on Thursday 21st November, Friday 22nd November and Saturday 23rd November. For each photo that makes it into the final exhibition, Create Victoria will donate £1 to The Prince’s Trust as part of its Christmas appeal. The youth charity helps disadvantaged young people across the UK to turn their lives around and find a job The public can also support the charity by donating via text, to donate £3 text TRUST VICTORIA to 70555*

Curator and judge, Rob Grieg, will choose the top ten photos to be displayed in a temporary exhibition in Victoria. In addition, the winning photographer will win £500 worth of photography equipment and have their photo printed in the Spring Edition of the Victoria newspaper, read by over 400,000 Londoners.

Three nights of entertainment

Visitors to the #CreateChristmas exhibition at Cardinal Place in Victoria can enjoy a host of live performances on stage, including the London Ballet Company and popular children’s hit, The Gruffalo performing with The Snail & The Whale, as well as a Christmas food market. Also joining the celebrations is former leading lady of the award winning ‘Wicked the Musical’, Louise Dearman, who will be singing songs from her new album, and award winning and record-breaking West End and Broadway actor best known for his performances in Les Miserables and as The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, John Owen-Jones. Open for shopping seven days a week, with high street favourites including Topshop, Zara and Hobbs, plus beauty must-haves L’Occitane and Space NK, Cardinal Place has everything you need for a spot of Christmas shopping. Throughout the exhibition many shops will be opening late and hosting special offers and instore activities, plus visitors can enjoy dinner until late at restaurants including Wagamama, Zizzi and La Tasca.

Each night’s proceedings will be hosted by entertainment presenter, Lisa Vickery, commencing at 5.30pm until 7.30pm, on the roof garden at Cardinal Place.
